You may have heard the terms: makeup artist and makeup enthusiast. But, what do they mean? What’s the difference? Are they the same? Well, the answer is no. Although both terms refer to individuals who love makeup, they mean something different and today we’ll explain the difference between them two so you could have a better understanding.
When we talk about a Makeup Artist (MUA), we are referring to a person that is a professional in the matter. Someone whose job is to apply makeup for fashion, magazines, television or events such as weddings, runways and special celebrations.
Makeup artists might have been enthusiast at the beginning of their careers but their skills, passion and dedication took them further in the industry and became professionals. They definitely enjoy doing makeup, but they do it for a living rather than as a hobby.
On the other hand, a Makeup Enthusiast (MUE) is someone that likes and truly enjoys makeup. These kind of people are always buying makeup for themselves to play around with different styles, colors, textures and brands just for fun!
A great example you may see regularly is bloggers and influencers on social media who are fantastic at putting on makeup, doing tutorials and showing off their skills! They are considered enthusiast because they definitely enjoy applying makeup to themselves but they don’t do it for a living.
It doesn’t matter whether you are a makeup artist working for pay, or a beauty influencer or enthusiast. What matters is that both enjoy doing makeup and helping other look fabulous!
