The latest tea in the beauty world isn’t actually new at all! According to this article by the Daily Beast, makeup wipes actually do more harm than good. For one, they are bad for the environment. Makeup wipes are not reusable and will eventually end up in a landfill unable to decompose. Additionally, while their one job is to remove makeup after a long day of sweat and oil clogging your pores, they can actually cause irritation and more problems. We know reaching for a wipe after a long day may seem like the easy way out, it is important to take the proper stems for clean, beautiful skin. Here are a few alternative ways to remove your makeup:
- Micellar water: This product is great to clean your skin. Simply put some on a cotton pad and gently wipe it over your skin to remove all traces of makeup. You don’t even need to wash your face afterward, but you can do it if you would like.
- Gel cleanser: Cleansers are also great to remove impurities, makeup, and excess sebum. Make sure you use one that fits your skin type just so your face doesn’t get irritated. Apply some to your face with water, cleanse and then pat your face dry with a towel.
- Oil cleansing: This type of cleanser is great to take off your shadow or mascara. And no, it doesn’t leave your face greasy. Saturate a reusable cloth with the oily product and hold it against your eye for about 10 seconds. Wash your face with cleanser and rinse it afterward.
No matter what product or brand you use, make sure you wash your face daily, especially if you had applied a lot of makeup. After finishing your cleansing routine, apply some moisturizer to protect your skin from the elements, and voila!
